Work together with your friends or compete for the crown in the first multiplayer 3D Mario game. In the Super Mario 3D World game, players finally get to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach or Toad for the first time since Super Mario 2 -- and this time, they can play as all of these characters together!
Each character has unique abilities and play styles. For example, Princess Peach glides over gaps, while Luigi has his trademark extra-high jump. Make sure to use the best of each characters' abilities as you explore colorful 3D environments filled with obstacles and contraptions like transparent pipes and vertical conveyor belts, which add new puzzle elements. The new cat transformation allows players to run on all fours, pounce on enemies, attack in midair or use their claws to scamper up walls and goal poles. You can even use the Wii U GamePad controller’s touch screen to search for hidden blocks and freeze enemies in place.
3D World will support four players simultaneously. Toad, Luigi, Princess Peach and Mario are all playable characters. All four characters have unique traits, just as they did back in Super Mario Bros. 2. Like in Super Mario Bros. 2, Peach can once again briefly float in mid-air; Toad is slightly faster with a slightly different weight; and Luigi once again has a longer, higher jump.
Suits and Power-Ups:
As part of the game's debut trailer, Nintendo also revealed a new costume for Mario and his allies - the Cat Suit. By obtaining a gold bell, Mario will transform into a cat and gain the ability to pounce on enemies or scale walls and poles. New footage also revealed the presence of what appears to be Kuribo's Skate, a costume like Kuribo's Shoe in Super Mario Bros. 3, and an orange Yoshi-like creature that serves as a raft.
Other additions made to the game are:
- A competitive scoring system has been added to encourage level replay and friendly competition.
- Each character has a special trait. Luigi jumps higher, Peach can float and Toad runs the fastest.
- Pipes are now transparent and players can control their character inside the pipe.
